DEEM course was stared in the year 1999, recognized by Sambalpur University,
The course will be conducted in two parts as follows
The course shall consists of 2 semesters

  • first semester
  • Second semester
shall comprise of 3 papers each including a project work.
Mission and Vision Statement
Libraries are the backbone of any developed society. It is said that "the nation who reads, the nation that leads". This statement is true for the development of any society. So in this regard the department tries to make the society educated formally and informally through the classroom method by training young professionals and also help in the continuing education as well as adult education programme.
The main objectives of the course are
  • To acquaint students with the principles of modern management of Library and Information centers
  • To make them aware about the growth and development of universe of knowledge and its organization in different fields
  • To provide training in methods and techniques of research and their application to the problems in Library and Information Science and preparing one for further research
  • To acquaint students with the theory and practices of Information Technology in information collection, processing, storage and retrieval
  • To acquaint on the principles, methods and techniques of organization and management of modern Library and Information centers
Course Duration
The duration of the courses is one year(1yr). The teaching programme and work study plan will be the same as in the university. The study tour programme will be organized for practical experience by the institute . But all expeanses are to be boone by the students.
Course Contents
Attested Photocopies in duplicate at the following documents and photographs are to be submitted along with the application from
Paper –I Basic concept of ecology and environmental science 100 Marks
Paper –II Concept of natural resources and pollution 100 Marks
Paper –III Environment and society 100 Marks
Paper IV

Environmental management-I

Laboratory methods and data analysis
Paper V

Environment management-ii(a student opt for any one of the following papers)

100 Marks
Paper VI

i  ) Industrial pollution control and management

  TOTAL 600 Marks
Examination shall be held twice in a year ordinarily in the month of December and June for semester-I and semester-ii respectively as per the rules & regulations.

The  examination is  conducted by Sumbalpur University as per its rules and regulations.
